Ayurvedic Treatment for Chronic Kidney Disease

We at Dr Dassan’s Ayurveda, focus on the underlying cause of chronic kidney disease i.e mainly blood pressure and diabetes. Additionally, the underlying dosha is balanced with appropriate diet and lifestyle changes. We provide patients with ayurvedic medicines that include natural herbs like gokhru, punarnava, kasini, varuna etc that have a nourishing effect on the nephrons and are also diuretic in nature. By this we achieve our main objective of rejuvenating the nephrons. This in turn improves the renal filtration and kidney functioning. Our goal is to increase blood flow and flush toxins from the body through urine. We have seen a significant increase in kidney function and urine production during the course of our treatment. We have prevented the need for dialysis in patients who haven't yet started with it and reduced the dependency on dialysis in patients who were already needing it. Moreover, patients have seen an improvement in tests such as those of serum creatinine, blood urine nitrogen, urine analysis etc.

Ayurvedic Pathogenesis

Chronic kidney disease is caused due to aggravated tridosha with vata dosha dominance that leads to the disturbance in the urinary channels called the mutra vaha srotas causing insufficient urine production over the time due to damaged nephrons. In case of glomerular inflammation, pitta aggravation is known to be the main factor causing leakage of the ojas(albumin) component through urine.

Faq's
  • Q. How could I be suffering from kidney disease if I feel fine?

Ans. There may be no signs of Chronic Kidney Disease in the beginning. This is because the damage to your kidneys is still mild. The only way to identify kidney disease at an early stage is through testing, including urine and blood tests. Symptoms of Chronic Kidney Disease include nausea, weakness, fatigue, trouble in sleeping, swelling in the feet and ankles and changes in urine habits. However, most people don’t notice symptoms until the kidney damage is severe

  • Q. Can Ayurveda treat kidney disease?

Ans. Treatment depends upon how early disease is detected. Your chances of slowing the disease's progression are better the earlier you start treatment. We at Dr Dassan’s Ayurveda emphasize on the underlying causes of disease i.e diabetes, high blood pressure etc. Appropriate diet and lifestyle changes are made to follow during the course. Our medicines like Re-Renal, Renokalp are used which are a combination of various classical medicines which are prepared authentically at our factory. Our medications rejuvenate the nephrons and help the nephrons to function better which in turn helps eliminate toxins out of blood.

  • Q. Are there any side effects of the treatment and medications provided by you?

Ans. No, there are no side effects as we believe in providing our patients with the best treatment and medications which are given in the appropriate dosage and with the right anupana (taken along with the medicine). We assure you that we take patient care very seriously.

  • Q. Do I need to go for dialysis once I start with the treatment?

Ans. It all depends on the stage of Chronic Kidney Disease as well as digestive power of the patient. If the treatment is started at an early stage, there is no need for dialysis as the medicines are really effective but if the treatment is delayed and the damage is severe, it becomes difficult to digest the medicine and there are symptoms like vomiting, then we recommend you to take dialysis once. Once the patient’s blood gets purified, medicines start working effectively.

  • Q. What if a patient does not get well after taking the medicine?

Ans. Though there have been very few such cases but in case this happens it's important to know that there could be multiple reasons for this to happen. While we review a case, it has always been a top priority to let the patient know about his prognosis. In our 65 years of experience we have been very open and honest in our approach and whether or how soon the patient Will recover is always clearly communicated at the start itself. We have numerous records of patients who have seen a significant improvement in their condition after undergoing our treatment.

  • Q. What is the cost of the treatment?

Ans. Our medicines i.e the full course of treatment would cost around Rs 3000 to 6000 per month. It also depends on the patient’s digestive power, appetite and other associated conditions that the patient might be having since we believe in not just treating the disease but the body as a whole.

  • Q. How can I protect my kidneys?

Ans. You can slow down kidney damage by keeping in check your blood pressure and blood sugar levels, Kidney stones, prostate, uric acid etc. This includes following an appropriate diet and taking medications for the same. It’s also important to get regular exercise and maintain a healthy weight. Another way to ease the burden on your kidneys is by cutting back on salt and excessive protein. In case you smoke, it’s important to quit.

  • Q. How many patients have you treated so far?

Ans. We have numerous records of patients who have gotten well after undergoing our treatment. You can watch various success stories on our youtube channel. No other treatment has as effective results as our treatment.

  • Q. Does kidney disease increase risk for other health problems?

Ans. If your kidneys are damaged and not working right, you are at greater risk for other health issues. Kidney disease makes you more vulnerable and increases your chances of developing heart diseases and stroke. The kidneys also help make red blood cells that carry oxygen throughout the body. In case your kidneys aren't working normally then your red blood cell levels can drop too low resulting in anemia. Kidneys also keep phosphorus and potassium at a healthy level in your body. Too much of either of these nutrients can build up in your blood if you have kidney disease. High phosphorus levels can drain the bones of calcium and weaken them. High potassium levels can also increase your risk for heart rhythm problems that can be dangerous.

  • Q. I'm tired all the time with CKD. Is there a treatment for fatigue?

Ans. As your CKD gets worse, you could feel more exhausted. You can become anemic as a result of decreased production of erythropoietin and a lack of healthy red blood cells. Additionally, build up of toxins in blood can also cause tiredness and fatigue in the body. Once we start treating you, within 20-25 days, you'll start seeing some improvement in the symptoms of Chronic Kidney Disease including fatigue.

  • Q. How often do I have to get my serum creatinine level tested?

Ans. You should get a Kidney Function (KFT)Test every 15 to 30 days. It will help you measure creatinine, uric acid, potassium, phosphorus, chloride, sodium, blood urea, calcium and protein.

  • Q. How is my blood pressure control related to my kidney function?

Ans. The arteries of your kidney can tighten and narrow due to high blood pressure, which restricts blood flow and prevents the kidneys from functioning properly.

  • Q. What is the guarantee that I’ll be fine after taking your medicines?

Ans. The number of patients that have been treated and recovered are a testimony to how effective our treatment is. Our main aim remains to repair & rejuvenate the nephrons to filter blood effectively. Infact, We have numerous records of patients that were initially on dialysis & with the help of our treatment, they were able to stop it. When the patient is on Dialysis, we make efforts to delay the frequency of it. Once the frequency is reduced, his dependency on dialysis reduces too. We assure you that the treatment that we provide is the best. However, every individual responds differently to the treatment and the outcome also depends on how obediently the patient follows the diet and lifestyle practices.

  • Q. In how many days will my Dialysis stop?

Ans. This varies from patient to patient as it depends on your digestive power and immune response. We have been successful in reducing the dependency on dialysis of patients with some urine output. Maximum recovery rates have been noticed in patients who carefully follow our guidelines. In patients with no urine output, efforts are made to stimulate the urine production and eventually reduce the dependency on dialysis. If the proper course of treatment is taken as instructed, dialysis can definitely be stopped.
